Since the January 15 posting of the Fall 2009 dean's list on Northampton NOW, over 3,859 people clicked to see if they or a friend or family member made the list. Making the dean's list is a big deal for Northampton Community College students!
Congratulations to the students who made the list. Your hard work and determination throughout the semester paid off!
I remember the first time I made the dean's list. I received my official grades in the mail and I was sitting at my old house in Nazareth. I opened the envelope, looked over my grades and was pretty happy with what I saw. I was about to throw the paper aside when something caught my eye. I had almost overlooked the little note that said "DEAN'S LIST."
I was so excited that I jumped around my room like a dork for a little while, and I may have frightened my cat. After I chilled out for two seconds I called my step-mom and my grandparents. They were all extremely excited for me.
I was a little overly excited because in middle school and high school I was never the honor roll student. I was always the one that did just enough to get through. I was usually just a "B" student, which was completely fine with me at that time.
When I headed off to college, something changed in me. Well, something changed in my wallet! I was actually PAYING out of my own pocket to go to school. Oh, I officially started caring. ALOT.
I didn't make the dean's list every semester, but I made it a few times. It never got old because it made me feel truly accomplished at the end of the semester. I didn't almost rip my hair out for nothing. The late nights and stress paid off. Not only did I get a great education throughout my years in college, I also had a little somethin' somethin' to show for it!
Congrats again!
